Explore Minehead’s Treasures

Minehead is a great destination for families and people of all ages seeking a traditional seaside holiday or some outdoor adventures. Sandy beaches, a heritage steam railway and family-friendly walks all await. It also offers plenty to do for those wanting to get out and about from water sports to horse-riding, fishing and mountain-biking. You can enjoy lazy days or active days, there's plenty to do.
 

Explore the seafront

Don’t miss the Minehead Maritime Mile Heritage Trail which stretches the length of the seafront, right down to the harbour. There are augmented reality displays showcasing Minehead’s history, as well as an outdoor, public art gallery. Young explorers can download and complete the fun heritage trail quiz to claim a prize. You can also grab your smartphone and download the Storywalks website to delve into the past on a series of walks around the town.

Explore the seaside

With a wide sandy beach and historic harbour, Minehead is an ideal setting for organised activities out on the water. There are fishing boat charters and Channel Adventure offers a wide variety of water-based adventures throughout the year. These vary according to the season but include canoeing, coasteering and paddleboarding. The beach is also perfect for a free day out of family fun. At high tide try your hand at crab fishing off the harbour.

 

Explore the outdoors

Pull on your walking boots, jump on a bike or saddle up a horse, Minehead has all this and more...  There are many scenic paths starting from Minehead to be explored on foot, by horseback or on a mountain bike.  Minehead Information Centre can suggest routes suitable for all ages and abilities. Channel Adventure also offers lots of land-based activities, too.

 

Explore and relax

Take a stroll along many of Minehead’s highways and byways. Meander along the seafront or take in the summer season of music concerts in Blenheim Gardens. There’s always a quiet corner to sit and relax with a coffee or a good book, or maybe a spot of retail therapy and a long lunch in one of the many local eateries will help you unwind.
